Paul Weiss was born and raised in Queens, New York. His father Herb was a salesman, and his mother Raye an accountant. He has one sister, Julie Sanscrainte.

Paul first became interested in the workings of the human body in an eighth grade biology class after studying the heart, lungs and blood vessels.

Several years later he found himself ready to graduate from the Bronx High School of Science, a public school for gifted students. College brochures filled the Weiss family mailbox. When he found a description of a physical therapy program and the career to follow his college decision was easy. Paul attended the University at Buffalo.

After graduation in 1990, Paul took a job as a physical therapist in Latham, New York. He began his course of study with the McKenzie Institute, a leading center for postgraduate study in physical therapy focusing on back and neck pain.

Paul earned an opportunity to enter a residency program with a founding member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. In May of 1992 he moved to Biloxi Mississippi to work with Mike Rogers, a highly skilled physical therapist with a reputation for excellence in the profession.

After completing his residency program, Paul moved to High Point, North Carolina in 1995. This was an opportunity to work closely with physical therapists that had a strong background in the McKenzie Method. During this time, he passed the McKenzie Institute’s credentialing examination. In 1996 Paul joined the staff of Greensboro Orthopaedics.

Paul completed the McKenzie Institute’s prestigious diploma program in the summer of 1999, becoming Greensboro’s first (and to date, only) physical therapist to achieve this distinction.

In 2002, Paul met Angela Cook. They found they had many common interests and enjoyed spending time together traveling, hiking, mountain biking and relaxing and enjoying nature.  Paul and Angela were married on June 25, 2006.

Paul later studied under Paul Hodges, PhD. Dr. Hodges is a leading researcher in the field of low back pain, and an expert in the use of ultrasound imaging in rehabilitation. Paul’s presentation on the technique to the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners led to state-wide authorization of its use within physical therapy practice.

While at Greensboro Orthopaedics, Paul developed a Spine Physical Therapy program complete with its own therapy space and staff. The responsibilities of managing this program meant less time working directly with patients – his passion and the reason he entered the physical therapy field.

Realizing that opening his own facility would allow him to create the therapy environment and practice he had always conceived of, Paul and his wife Angie began developing Cedar Hill Physical Therapy. This intimate outpatient clinic is based in their lovely home in Summerfield, North Carolina. It allows Paul to deliver the kind of one-on-one care on which he built his reputation for professionalism and excellence.
